2014 Housewares Design Awards Winners Announced
Feb. 6, 2014 – Celebrating excellence and creativity in new product innovation, the Housewares Design Awards announced the winners of its 2014 competition, including three “Best of the Best” Awards, the “Green House” Design Award, and 12 “Best in Category” Awards. For over a decade, the Housewares Design Awards has been the industry’s preeminent design award competition, honoring products that elevate everyday life through superior aesthetics and functionality.
Selected as best product of the year, The EveryDrop Water Filter by Whirlpool Corporation won “Best of the Best – Gold.” Featuring fast flow technology, it can filter one gallon in two minutes, with a 60-gallon filter capacity, saving 450 plastic water bottles from landfills. For use at home or on the go, it features a large capacity micro contaminant filter that reduces chlorine taste and odor. Filters hard, soft, warm and cold water.
The twixit! Seal & Pour Bag Clip from Linden Sweden, Inc. won “Best of the Best – Silver.” Its pour spout with lid makes pouring from a resealed bag easy and quick. With 14 live hinges, it attaches to any bag, keeping contents fresh with a tight closure.
“Best of the Best – Bronze” was awarded to the Classic 9-Inch Double Serrated Bread Knife from Wusthof, which features an additional serration inside its traditional serrations. This new technology reduces the number of crumbs produced when slicing bread, and can also be used for delicate ingredients. The inner serration never hits the cutting surface, keeping the blade sharper longer.
The “Green House” Design Award, honoring the best eco-friendly product, was given to the Snapware Eco-Flip from World Kitchen (Asia Pacific) PTE Ltd., a portable beverage container for outdoor use, with a hook for easy portability. Made of borosilicate glass, it features a two-part leak-proof flip cap mechanism that is easy to sip and reseal, and ensures quick disassembling for washing. Ridge profile and silicone sleeve for an enhanced grip.
