InComm and Dollar General Launch Microsoft Xbox LIVE Prepaid PIN on Receipt Service
Dec. 17, 2012 – InComm, a leading prepaid product and transaction services provider, together with general merchandise retailer Dollar General, today announced the launch of Microsoft Xbox LIVE via PIN-on-receipt delivery across the retailer’s stores, making it easier for consumers to purchase Xbox LIVE points and Xbox LIVE Gold Memberships at Dollar General stores, through InComm’s recently launched Digital Delivery Application (DDA).
Utilizing InComm’s DDA to offer a PIN-on-receipt delivery solution for Dollar General eliminates the need to purchase and redeem physical prepaid cards for Xbox LIVE memberships or virtual currency. Dollar General’s customers can now purchase Xbox LIVE points and Xbox LIVE Gold Memberships directly at the register. At point-of-sale, Dollar General’s cashiers simply scan a UPC and generate a receipt noting the number of points or membership period available and instructions for redemption.
“We are excited to continue fulfilling a market need for a more efficient payments process through the integration of our digital delivery application,” said Dave Etling, vice president of business and product development, InComm. “Through Dollar General, we are proud to offer Microsoft not only its first entry into the general merchandise retailer channel, but also the implementation of the first nationally available PIN via receipt redemption for the Xbox.”
“By offering unlimited digital payment services, our sales potential is never limited by the number of Xbox LIVE physical cards we have in stock, and our customers always have secure access to virtual currency for their favorite games,” said Todd Vasos, Dollar General’s executive vice president, division president and chief merchandising officer. “This new venture marks our first major foray into the online video game category and we see a unique opportunity which gives us another way to fulfill our commitment to helping our customers save time and money, every day.”
